Our Lead Pastor is Brian Gigee, a native of Ohio but claims now to be a "born-again" Texan! He is a life-long Lutheran but remains a Lutheran by choice telling others..."If you can show me a better way to live than to walk in the footsteps of Jesus, please tell me so I can be your next convert..." He loves his work and his life!
Brian is a graduate of Texas Lutheran University (1976) and Trinity Lutheran Seminary, Columbus, OH (1981) and was awarded a Doctor of Ministry degree from Luther Seminary, St. Paul, MN in 2003. He has served as our pastor since 1997 and has been advocate for outreach and personal growth in faith in this ministry and the congregations he has served in Taylor, TX, Huntsville, TX and New Orleans, LA now for almost 30 years. He will be the first to remind you that as the world continues to change around us, we live in the power of an unchanging God who calls each generation to a faithfulness that is authentic both here and now.
In addition to his leadership role at New Life, Brian continues to be an advocate for the ending of global hunger in our generation and continues to speak to groups and individuals about the importance of this work and the justice issues related to it. In the past 10 years, his passion for men's ministry has been an integral part of his life's work reaching out to men of all ages as a teacher, coach, mentor and friend. One of his favorite quotes is from Martin Luther who wrote, "It is the work and the glory of the ministry to make real saints out of sinners, living souls out of the dead, saved souls out of the damned, children of God out of servants of the devil." He understands life's difficulties and complications, yet lives with confidence and joy!
Brian is married to Margo, a prefessional educator here in Pearland, and together they seek to be advocates for the well-being of children as well as provide support to blended-families in the congregation and the community. They have five children, Katy, Jack, Rachel, Kenneth and Nathan. He enjoys playing guitar and singing, shooting baskets in the driveway or the YMCA, reading a John Grisham novel at the beach, seeing the latest movie; staying in touch with family and old friends, learning about history, and helping others discover the value of a family systems approach to life and work.
Brian is available for conversation and prayer, encouragement and guidance and can be reached via the web-site, at home or at the church office
