Men in Mission is the official name for the men's ministry of the ELCA! Our congregation's men's group is one of the most progressive and effective ministries in Texas as we seek to help each male in our congregation be the very best "man of God" they can be.
We meet on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Saturday of each month beginning at 7:30 am...around the coffee pot...8:00 am for breakfast... Bible Study will begin around 8:30 am.
Our Vision Statement ...
| MEN of PURPOSE: "Seeking men where they are; sharing God's grace in meaningful ways; providing spiritual direction and foundations to build up heads of households devoted to God, family, Lutheran Christianity and the community." |
Together we are striving to do the following:
+ Be present each month
+ Exercise confidentiality
+ Be invitational with other men
+ Hold each accountable in loving ways
+ Be open to the Spirit's work in us
New Life Lutheran Church holds the conversations of men and our pastors with strict confidentiality.
To begin your journey of "new life" in Christ, an initial conversation with one of our pastors can be the best first step. Contact

Men's Ministry is: (in no particular order of importance)
* holding your infant daughter and singing her songs of love
* cheering at your sons baseball game and doing it sober
* teaching a Sunday School class and your child is not in it
* visiting another male from your congregation in the hospital
* being faithful to your wife and showing your children that marriage is hard work but yet important work
* volunteering your family to work at the local homeless shelter on Thanksgiving Day or any other day
* staying in touch with an old HS or college friend for the rest of your lives
* taking care of one's physical being through a healthy diet and appropriate amounts of exercise
* showing your son or daughter how to bait a fishing hook, find the right firewood and how to break down a campsite
* playing catch with your son in the backyard for 1000 hours...even 10 or 1
* taking your daughter to a movie after your son's football team won last night
* dating your wife 5, 10, 15 years after your 5th wedding anniversary
* having a code and standard of ethics in the workplace
* ushering at the church's worship service
* telling your faith story in 7 minutes at church the next Sunday
* having your grandchildren catch you reading the Bible and then reading to them
* watching your neighbor's house at the time of their family funeral
* giving a gift to support the work of your congregation's men's ministry
* telling a friend when he's done something wrong and needs to amend his life
* taking time to read about the value of men's ministry and research what other men's ministries are doing elsewhere
* adding another example to this list...
