Jesus was a rabbi at the synagogue in town;
Got baptized at the river, John saw the dove come down.
He talked about God’s kingdom; gave a blind man back his sight;
Gave new hope to the woman @ the well; “you’re life’s gonna be alright;
He reached out to the sinners; he said you’re all my friends;
The road goes on forever and the party never ends.

The angel came to Mary…said you’re gonna have a son;
You’ll call the baby, Jesus; he’ll be God’s only one.
He was present at creation; was with Elijah in the cave;
He shut up all the lion’s mouths; old Daniel he did save.
With Moses and God’s people they walked the desert sands
The road goes on forever and the party never ends.

We saw him on the hillside by the Sea of Galilee;
Peter, James and John were there; he said “come, follow me.”
You all are my disciples, so be fishermen to all;
I send you all out 2 x 2 my story to recall.
Go teach and preach and baptize; on you it all depends…

He rode into Jerusalem; it was Passover week;
The reign of God has come to all; God’s kingdom they did seek.
To an upper room he led them; it was there he broke the bread;
A new covenant I give to you; for this my blood is shed.
He prayed for them and washed their feet;
his servants now made friends,
The road goes on forever and the party never ends!

They caught him in the garden; he’d prayed ‘til almost dawn;
He said, “Lord, take this cup from me; and yet your will be done.”
They rushed him off to Pilate; there he sentenced him to death.
Was crucified on Golgotha; and with his final breath,
He shouted, “It is finished; this sinful world is cleansed,”

The disciples ran up to the tomb, on God’s first Easter day;
And much to their surprise they found…the stone was rolled away.
They saw the tomb was empty and an angel standing there;
He said “Your Jesus is alive, and you won’t find him here…”
That’s how the party started, God’s love and grace transcends
The Lord goes on forever and his salvation never ends…

We are now the church at work in this great time and place;
The tasks God sets before us we will now embrace
We’ll feed the hungry, tend to the sick and pray for one and all;
We hear the Spirit’s summons; we heed God’s gracious call;
The way is set before us; we journey where he sends
