The fewer the words, the better the prayer.

I have held many things in my hands, and have lost them all; but whatever I have placed in God's hands, that I still possess.

Christ is the master; the Scriptures are only the servant.

The authority of Scripture is greater than the comprehension of the whole of man's reason.

It is for Christ's sake that we believe in the Scriptures, but it is not for the Scriptures' sake that we believe in Christ.

The whole being of any Christian is Faith and Love... Faith brings the man to God, love brings him to men.

For it is our neighbor who needs our service; God in heaven needs it not.

It is impossible for a man to be a Christian without having Christ; and if he has Christ he has at the same time all that is in Christ.

Our Lord has written the promise of the resurrection, not in books alone but in every leaf in springtime.

A Christian man is most free lord of all, and subject to none; a Christian man is the most dutiful servant of all, and subject to everyone.

The human heart is like a ship on a stormy sea driven about by winds blowing from all four corners of heaven.

Nothing good ever comes of violence.

Pray, and let God worry!

You are responsible not only for what you say, but also for what you do not say.

It is pleasing to God whenever you rejoice or laugh from the bottom of your heart!

If I knew tomorrow that the world would go to pieces, I would still plant my apple tree.

We are beggars: this is true. [the last words Luther put to pen]

There is no more lovely, friendly and charming relationship, communion or company than a good marriage.

We are all ministers of the Gospel. Some of us just happen to be clergymen.

When you wash your face, remember your baptism.
